Northwestern Electric is offering a new innovative prepaid electric plan called SelectPay. With SelectPay, you have the option to prepay your electricity bill giving you the opportunity to pay when you want, in the amounts you want. SelectPay puts you in control of your electric account balance and energy usage.
Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill each month, your usage is calculated daily. By monitoring your consumption on a regular basis, you will begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage. Any variation from this pattern, such as a house guest, or a vacation where little energy is being used, will become evident as you monitor your account. Statistics indicate monitoring and controlling daily usage can help lower your electric consumption.
For new members, SelectPay eliminates the need for a security deposit, which can run between $300 to $500, for consumers with little credit or a slow payment history. A $5 membership fee plus a minimum of $50 is all it takes to activate service. If you already have service with Northwestern Electric, you can switch to a SelectPay account. In order to switch, your existing account must be current. If you have an outstanding balance, we will apply any existing deposit towards the amount. Any remaining credit will go to your new prepaid service. Members who don’t have a deposit with us simply need to pay any outstanding balance on their current account plus the $50 minimum to activate SelectPay.
When you set up your SelectPay account you choose the balance at which you will begin to receive low balance notifications. You will also receive the low balance notice via the method you choose: email, text or automated calling service. Purchasing more power is quick and easy, even on weekends and holidays. You can pay any time by telephone, in person during normal business hours, or online.
While SelectPay isn’t for everyone, it might be for you if it would be easier to make weekly or biweekly payments rather than one large payment each month. You can view your daily usage over the Internet or you can access the information by calling a toll-free number and make payments as your budget allows.
